Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Why are the blood tests important?

Laboratory blood testing helps to give us a better view of how your body is functioning. It provides a picture of what your health is like at this moment in time and also tells us your risk factors for the future. Blood work is just one way to get the answers we need. We also often use outside labs, such as Metametrix, Doctor’s Data, or Alcat, to test urine, saliva or stool in order to get more information about heavy metal exposure, hormonal imbalances, food sensitivities or allergies, and even genetics.

Why should I come to AIM when I already feel healthy?

Feeling healthy doesn’t necessarily equate to being healthy — many things may happen within our bodies that we may not feel, such as high cholesterol levels or high blood pressure. In traditional medicine, the typical approach is to focus on patients who need to be treated for diseases with medication and to address acute issues. Anything outside of that is essentially ignored. At AIM, we strive to prevent disease, to improve your vitality, and to increase longevity. This is the future of medicine and it is about prevention.

Why is prevention important?

Generally speaking, most chronic diseases in this country, like diabetes, heart disease, and even cancer, develop slowly over time as a result of genetics, poor lifestyle choices, stress, and the environment. By focusing on prevention now, we have a chance to reduce your risk of ever developing any of these diseases. And even if you are starting to show signs of disease, it is never too late to try to reverse the damage and repair the body.

Why did you choose this approach to medicine and health?

Early in my career, it became very clear to me that much of what I was treating in my practice was preventable through changes in diet, lifestyle, and stress reduction. By taking the time to talk to patients, getting to know them and their families, and working together as partners, I knew that I could help make a difference in their lives.

How much weight will I lose?

It is not about the weight as much as it is about your body composition and how you feel. I want to help you prepare for the future, to reduce your risk of developing certain illnesses and diseases. It is about making sure your quality of life is the best it can be.

How do you measure my results?

At your follow-up visits, we will review your progress through lab results, evaluation of changes in your symptoms, and specific measurements, such as weight, BP, etc.

What makes your program different than others in the area?

The other important difference between AIM and other programs in the area our team approach.
