Dr. Dempsey combines primary care treatment and integrative medicine with particular focus on thyroid dysfunction, autoimmune disease, hormonal imbalances, vitamin deficiencies, food sensitivities, and weight management.and is an active staff member of Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut. She received her BS degree with honors from Cornell University and her MD degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

She is a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) and the American College of Physicians, and holds a certificate in Vanguard Endocrinology. She speaks frequently in the community on health and wellness, writes for local magazines and newspapers and appeared on Health IQ, a television program on PCTV76 in Pleasantville, NY, to discuss thyroid disease.  Dr. Dempsey is awaiting the publication of a chapter in the Anti-Aging Therapeutics Textbook, Volume XVI.

Dr. Dempsey’s initial office visits are typically 90 minutes in length. During that visit she takes a thorough history, performs a physical exam and creates a diagnostic plan that usually includes lab work. Many of these tests will be covered by your insurance carrier but some of the more specialized functional medicine tests may not be considered medical necessary and therefore might not be covered.

At the first follow-up visit, Dr. Dempsey will typically spend 90 minutes discussing all the lab results and designing a treatment plan.

Subsequent follow-up visits are scheduled as is necessary to follow-up on certain lab tests or to continue adjusting the plan to the patient’s medical needs. Typically you will have several follow-up visits fairly close together during the initial portion of your treatment plan but as treatment progresses these will probably spread out further and further apart.
