About Dr. Dempsey & Armonk Integrative Medicine

Dr. Tania T. Dempsey founded Armonk Integrative Medicine (AIM) in 2011 based on the philosophy of integrating traditional medicine and complementary therapies. She believes in the powerful partnership between physician and patient, creating the foundation for healing the mind, body and spirit.

Dr. Dempsey combines primary care treatment and integrative medicine with particular focus on thyroid dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, vitamin deficiencies, and weight management. Through extensive examination of the patient’s medical history, observation and testing, the AIM interdisciplinary team will develop a program for the patient to reach his or hers optimum health goals. The team may include a nutritionist, an acupuncturist, a behavioral medical specialist, or a personal trainer.

Patients experience our unique approach in the highly personalized attention provided by Dr. Dempsey and our staff, the comfortable and serene design of our office, and our commitment to using eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable materials whenever possible.

ABOUT DR. DEMPSEY

Tania Tyles Dempsey, MD, founder of Armonk Integrative Medicine (AIM) is passionate about providing the highest quality care to her patients,. Her expertise is in thyroid dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, vitamin deficiencies, and food sensitivities. Dr. Dempsey is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is an active staff member of Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut. She received her BS degree with honors from Cornell University and her MD degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her Internship and Residency at NYU Medical Center/ Bellevue Hospital.  Prior to founding Armonk Integrative Medicine, Dr. Dempsey had a busy Internal Medicine practice at WESTMED Medical Group in Rye, NY.  She is a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) and the American College of Physicians, and holds a certificate in Vanguard Endocrinology. She speaks frequently in the community on health and wellness, writes for local magazines and newspapers and recently appeared on Health IQ, a television program on PCTV76 in Pleasantville, NY, to discuss thyroid disease.

Dr. Dempsey’s initial office visits are typically 90 minutes in length. During that visit she takes a thorough history, performs a physical exam and creates a diagnostic plan that usually includes lab work. Many of these tests will be covered by your insurance carrier but some of the more specialized functional medicine tests may not be considered medical necessary and therefore might not be covered.

At the first follow-up visit, Dr. Dempsey will typically spend 45 minutes to 1 hour discussing all the lab results and designing a treatment plan.

Subsequent follow-up visits are scheduled as is necessary to follow-up on certain lab tests or to continue adjusting the plan to the patient’s medical needs. Typically you will have several follow-up visits fairly close together during the initial portion of your treatment plan but as treatment progresses these will probably spread out further and further apart.

Insurance and Billing:
After each visit you will receive a superbill, which can be submitted to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. You are expected to pay for the visit at the time of the visit with either cash, check or all major credit cards.

Medicare and Medicaid:
Dr. Dempsey has opted out of both Medicare and Medicaid. This means that by law neither the patient nor the doctor can submit a claim for any services to Medicare or Medicaid.

Lab results:
Dr. Dempsey will only call you with results if they contain critical values and need immediate attention. Otherwise you will discuss the lab results during your next visit with Dr. Dempsey. Make sure to schedule a follow up appointment whenever you have your blood drawn or have any other lab procedure performed.
